Buyer seeking 180,000 VERs in Purchase Auction

Climex found a Buyer who is looking to buy at least 180,000 issued Verified Emission Reduction credits (VERs) and if the price is interesting enough, the purchase volume can rise up to around 220,000 VERs.

Again, Climex will be organising a purchase auction for VERs. Buyer will be a Dutch bank who has contracted Climex before to purchase their VERs at auction. The VERs are acquired for internal offsetting purposes.

EU Member States agree on auction rules as of 2013

On 14 July 2010, the EU Member States unanimously agreed on detailed rules for auctioning most of their carbon permits after 2012, when the next phase of trading starts under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) For the aviation sector it will commence in 2012.

LONDON, July 14 (Reuters) - EU carbon edged up on Wednesday after falling as low as 13.75 euros, down 11 percent from last week's high and a new three-month low, as utility buyers remained quiet.

EU Allowance futures for December delivery were trading at 13.92 euros a tonne at 0740 GMT, up 0.5 percent or 7 cents. Dec-10 CERs were up 17 cents on the European Climate Exchange, at 11.89 euros a tonne, making the EUA-CER spread 2.03 euros.

European carbon prices stabilized above 14 euros a tonne early Tuesday, trading in a narrow range a day after permit prices fell by four percent.

EU Allowance futures for December delivery opened slightly weaker and quickly traded down to a key technical support level of 14 euros a tonne, the lowest since April 16 and down 7 cents from Monday's close.
